Teens on the beach

Aruba for Teens

We’ve been coming to Aruba since our kids were elementary school aged. They are now teens and yougn adults. Here are some things our kids like to do in Aruba:

Evening Fun & Dining

  • The Palm Beach Strip: A lively area perfect for an evening stroll. It is packed with shops, restaurants, and a great atmosphere for people-watching.

  • Bugaloe Beach Bar & Grill: Located on De Palm Pier, this spot gets very energetic between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. It’s a fun place for the family to grab a bite right over the water.

Teen Dining Favorites:

  • Eduardo’s: The go-to spot for fresh breakfast and lunch (bowls, smoothies, and more).
  • Lola Taqueria: A hit with teens, especially for the $1.00 taco special every Tuesday.
  • Family-Friendly Menus: Most local restaurants are accommodating and offer kid-friendly options.

Beaches & Water Adventures

  • Snorkeling at Tres Trapi: Famous for its sea turtles. Tip: Arrive early in the morning for the best sightings. The turtles can sometimes be further from the shore, so younger children or less confident swimmers should use a pool noodle for extra buoyancy.

  • Arashi Beach: A beautiful spot to relax. Note: Cell reception is limited here, making it an ideal place for a “digital detox” where kids can stay off their phones and enjoy the ocean. There is a beach bar and restaurant for snacks and drinks.

  • The Natural Pool (Conchi): Located within Arikok National Park, this is a must-see rock formation and fun place to swim. You can reach it via a 40-minute hike or by renting a 4×4 Jeep/joining a guided tour.

Wildlife & Nature

  • Animal Sanctuaries: Visit the Aruba Ostrich Farm or the Donkey Sanctuary to get up close with the island’s rescued and local animals.

  • Arikok National Park: Beyond the natural pool, the park offers hiking trails and unique desert landscapes to explore.

  • Go on a short hike starting at Alto Vista. There are some short hiking trails with great opportunities for selfies with cactuses. Bring water and sunscreen.

Shopping

  • There are lots of souvenir shops on the Palm Beach strip and also in Oranjestad.

  • The local grocery stores have lots of strange brands of candy and drinks that are novel to kids. Some of them also sell knock off luxury products like sunglasses and wallets. (note: it’s risky bringing  fakes through customs as they are illegal in most countries.)
