Aruba Kitesurfing and Wing Sailing

For most of the year, trade winds blow over Aruba making it a popular kitesurfing destination. In Noord, the popular kitesurfing and wing sailing spot for beginners or people wanting to learn is just north of the Ritz-Carleton on Palm Beach. This part of the beach is known as Fisherman’s Hut or Hadicurari Beach. The relatively calm shallow waters make this the perfect spot to learn to kite surf.

There are several outfits that will rent equipment and offer lessons. Learning to kite surf usually takes several lessons spread over a few days. Aruba’s consistent wind means there is a high probability that you will have enough windy days during your stay to complete the course.

Kitesurfing Lessons

Kites surf or wing sail lessons typically start with on-land training where you learn to get the kite up in the air and manoeuvre it. Then, you will head into the water with an instructor and work on handling the kite in the water and getting up on the board. When you are ready to start surfing more independently, the instructors will be able to come and get you in a small boat if you get into trouble or find yourself far from your starting point.

Experienced Kite Surfers

For more experienced kite surfers, the east coast of Aruba has more consistent winds but rougher seas. The spot for experienced kitesurfing on the east coast of Aruba is called Boca Grandi Beach.
