Taxis are alway plentiful at the airport. It can sometimes be difficult to get a taxi in the evening or at night during high season. Apparently many of the drivers are older and don’t want to work at night.

It’s also usually easier to get a taxi in Noord. The drivers make more money making short local trips and want to avoid the traffic of Oranjestad.

Is it better to rent a car or take taxis in Aruba?

We always recommend renting a car. During low season a cheap rental car can go for $30 per day, during high season that can go up to $50-60.  A car gives you the freedom to explore the island and can end up costing less than a taxi if you makes several trips per day.
