Aruba has a bike share service called Green Bike that lets you rent a bicycle by the hour. Pricing starts at USD 25 per hour. There are 8 docking stations along the coast between Palm Beach and Oranjestad. In Palm Beach, there are 3 stations: near the Mariott Hotel parking entrance, on JE Irausquin across from the Holiday Inn, and at the corner of JE Irausquin and Palm Beach Way.
There are other companies that rent bikes in Aruba that are cheaper but the Green Bike lets you dock your bike at any station and not have to worry about pick up and drop off.
Is it safe to bike in Aruba?
It’s safe to bike on JE Irausquin around the hotel area and on quiet side roads but we would not recommend biking on the main roads. The good news is that there is a path that goes from Palm Beach along Eagle Beach all the way to Oranjestad. In fact, if you go through downtown, you can make it to the airport with only a few places where you’d have to share the road with cars.
To get on the path from the Palm Beach area, bike down JE Irausquin and get on the sidewalk when you get to the Riu Hotel. From there follow the sidewalk until the Divi Phoenix, bike through the parking lot and then get on the path. The path will continue all the way along Eagle Beach.
It gets a bit tricky at the end of JE Irausquin, we recommend crossing the busy Lloyd G Smith Blvd when you see a green and yellow store called King Kong Supercenter and riding along that quiet street where all the stores are located. Once you see a Citigo gas station, cross back to the sea side of the road and you’ll catch the path again. You are now in Oranjestad near the cruise ship terminal.
