Beach Tennis Courts at Palm Beach

Play Beach Tennis in Aruba

Aruba’s main beach tennis club is located near Eagle Beach behind the Paradise Beach Villas hotel. This club has over a dozen courts and is open Mon-Sat mornings and evenings. Getting a court here in the evening on weekdays can be a challenge as the courts are reserved for league play. It’s often easier to get a court at Moomba on Palm Beach. Both locations provide you with paddles (i.e. racquet) and balls with the court rental.

BeachTennis Club Aruba

Beach tennis is usually played as doubles. Playing singles can be challenging as moving quickly on sand is difficult. The rules are similar to regular tennis with a few exceptions:

  • Scoring is 15-30-40-45 with no advantages at deuce (next point wins)
  • Lets are in play
  • Only one serve is allowed per point
  • The point is lost if the ball hits the sand (no bounces)
  • If the ball strikes the line in any way the shot is good
  • A player’s body or racquet cannot cross the plane of the net or touch the net
  • The player serving must stay behind the base line while serving
  • In doubles, unlike in volleyball, you cannot pass the ball to your own partner before hitting it over the net
